A dental bridge is intended to replace a tooth that was lost to a severe case of tooth decay, dental trauma or treatment-based extraction. The replicate dental work incorporates the missing tooth with a crown mounted on each end. It is secured to the healthy cores of the two teeth neighboring the void with a strong dental adhesive.
Once it has been cemented into place the dental bridge should last for many long years to come. However, it is still possible for something like an accidental blow to the mouth or poor oral hygiene to weaken the integrity of the cement causing a dental bridge to feel loose.
If you have a compromised dental bridge, you need to have it examined by our dentist, Dr. John P. Poovey, as soon as possible. After examining the severity of the problem he can present you with an effective treatment plan.
In some of these cases he might be able to clean and reinstall the dental bridge. If one of the abutments has been compromised he might need to perform a root canal treatment to restore the sufficient structure necessary to secure a new dental bridge in your mouth.
If you live in the Grand Junction, Colorado, area and you have a loose or otherwise compromised dental bridge, you should call 970-243-2025 to have it examined and treated at JP Dental and Implant Center.
