Long Term Care for All-on-4

couple smiling. One of the most commonly recommended dental treatments for missing multiple teeth is The All-on-4® Treatment Concept. This dental implant is a combination of various different dental technologies and methods that offers a secure solution for missing teeth and is much more solid and stable as compared to other methods such as dentures.

The All-on-4 procedure makes use of fixed dental implants that help hold the replacement teeth in place after being embedded in your jaws. The dental implants used in this treatment are quite different from the ones that are used normally to replace an individual tooth.

This is undoubtedly a highly effective dental solution for missing teeth, but at the same time, it’s important that you take good and proper care of your natural teeth, as well as the new set of teeth, in order to maintain its effectiveness.
Take a look at some key long-term care tips for All-on-4 dental implants.

Brush Your Teeth with a Soft Toothbrush

If you’ve recently gotten All-on-4 dental implants, you might experience some degree of sensitivity while brushing your teeth. However, it’s extremely important to brush properly to keep your teeth in the best health and condition.

Use a soft-bristled toothbrush to prevent abrasion and any kind of damage, and work your way slowly around the gums and teeth.

Floss Around the Implants

Flossing is an absolute given because it removes debris and plaque from the spaces between your teeth. You might find it a little hard to floss with four implants in your teeth, so try to floss gently around the implants. Begin by flossing the tissue surface until you reach the implant. Then, thread your floss string between the dental implants and be gentle in your movement.

Eat the Right Foods

After getting All-on-4 dental implants, your mouth region is likely to be swollen and sore, which is why you will be restricted in terms of the types of food you can eat during the initial few days. This is part of the long-term care process for All-on-4 implants because if you take proper measures at the start, the implants will last you a long time.
So, you need to avoid chewy and hard foods in the beginning in order to avoid disrupting the implants. You should focus on soft foods that include:
•  mashed potatoes
•  soup
•  smoothies
•  protein shakes
•  oatmeal
•  yogurt
•  pudding
•  scrambled eggs

Use a Waterpik

Also known as an oral irrigator, a waterpik will help you access the bridge and hard-to-reach areas in order to get rid of accumulated food and debris.

It is best to use a waterpik twice a day to keep your implants debris-free.

Use A Sulcus Brush

This brush has one-third the width of a normal toothbrush that you use for brushing your teeth. It helps clean that particular part of the bridge that moves towards the soft tissue. You are likely to find a sulcus brush to be much easier to massage and clean the tissue areas of the bridge.
