Traditional Dentures vs. All-on-4

women smiling.Millions of people all over the world suffer from tooth loss, be it a single tooth or multiple missing teeth.
One of the most popular and possibly the only solutions for replacing missing teeth used to be dentures. You’d often see your grandparents wearing removable dentures if they had a few teeth missing. However, thanks to recent advancements in the medical and dental field, we now have a variety of tooth-replacement options, one of which is called The All-on-4® Treatment Concept.

These implants have become the ultimate standard of care for damaged or missing teeth.
At JP Dental & Implant Center, we also suggest All-On-4 Treatment Concept to most patients given how it’s so much more advanced and effective than traditional dentures.

What Is All-on-4?

As the same suggests, this is a type of dental treatment for missing teeth in which four dental implants are used to provide support to all of your teeth. These implants help replace either your lower or the upper set of teeth where each implant is inserted in the gum followed by an artificial tooth. So, instead of replacing each missing tooth individually, the four implants serve as the main anchor in your jawbone, providing support to all of your teeth, both natural and artificial.

Traditional Dentures vs. All-On-4

Dentures were once the go-to solution for missing teeth, but the truth is they do come with possible limitations and downsides when compared with the All-on-4 Treatment option.
•  traditional dentures aren’t a permanent solution to missing or damaged teeth given how they are removable and have a tendency to slip and slide. On the other hand, All-on-4 is more of a permanent fixed bridge since these implants are screwed inside the gums and help hold the teeth in.
•  traditional dentures may have a natural-looking appearance, but the fact that they move around and slip and slide in the mouth doesn’t make them very realistic. All-on-4 implants don’t move, and they not only feel like natural teeth, but they also look and function just the same.
•  traditional dentures don’t allow freedom of chewing and eating because of how they rest on the gums and have a habit of moving. The movement often disrupts eating patterns, making the process extremely uncomfortable. All-on-4, on the other hand, provides maximum comfort and doesn’t get in the way of you chewing and biting your food since they are fixed inside your gums.
•  traditional dentures are high maintenance because they need to be cleaned properly on a regular basis with the help of a cleaning solution, and you also need to remove them from your mouth every night. All on-4 doesn’t require any additional care or hassle on your part and all they require for maintenance is for you to follow proper oral hygiene habits regularly.

If you are missing a few or all of your teeth, we suggest you look into All-On-4, which is a more viable option than dentures.
